Where are you today?

We meet people where they are. We aren’t a crisis service but believe peer support is an accessible way to connect with others while improving our mental health.

Walk About It Mate

What started as one off events in 2020 has become a regular weekly Walk and Talk group in Salford in 2021.

These walks are a great way of achieving the 5 Ways to Wellbeing and have returned in 2024.

Walks are now held every other Thursday at various locations in Salford by our fantastic volunteer Graham!

We are proud to support Walk About It Mate, a relaxed and chilled out way to talk about what is going on. We appreciate the work that’s been going on in the community, and it’s work that needs to be done

After struggling with my own demons for over 30 years, letting them take the form of addiction which finally came to a head this year when I decided enough was enough and I realised was just surviving not living and sought help. Talk About It Mate has been instrumental in getting me to open up, face my issues and realise I'm not alone.

Talk About It Women

Our women's community was born in April 2020, and held regular meetings online providing essential support during the global pandemic.

Whilst not currently active, we look forward to nurturing this community in the future and progressing into events and face to face peer groups.

I met Mike and the MeetUp group when I was at my lowest point. I was nervous but everyone was so welcoming and willing to listen that it proved a turning point for me. The ongoing support of the group has helped me move onwards and upwards with my mental health journey and I can’t recommend it highly enough. It’s a life changer.

Kick About It Mate

Our Peer Support offer now extends into football for mental fitness, providing an extra game for members of the Man V Fat community as well as Talk About It Mate.

We have a regular game at 7:30pm on a Monday (at GOALS Cheetham Hill) with friendly and supportive guys (18+).

To get involved, message us and we can add you to our closed WhatsApp group.

I met Mike at a business event quickly I felt at ease talking to him and got a sense of support immediately. It’s so good to see groups that Mike is setting up as many people don’t know where to turn to. I think one of the most important resources we have is communication with the right people. Now - if I ever feel as though I need help, I ask for it.

Proud About It Mate

Having launched at Levenshulme Pride as their peer support partner for the 2021 event, we successfully delivered our peer support format to members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

In 2023 we formed a partnership with Salford Pride and delivered a series of peer support groups.

While not currently active, it is hoped these will return in the future.

Neurodiversity Group

Between 2021-22 we offered a peer support centred around Neurodiversity. As each person’s experiences are unique, we provided an encouraging safe space where these can be shared authentically and celebrated as we strive towards a more inclusive world.

For 1:1 support regarding Neurodiversity please contact Therapy With Mike at mrichardtherapy@gmail.com.
