Be Our Mate: Partner with Talk About It Mate

Talk About It Mate is a trusted grassroots organisation supporting men’s wellbeing, connection and community across Salford. Our work is built on safe, consistent spaces where men can talk openly, build trust and support one another. Partnerships help us sustain and grow this work safely.

Become a Talk about it MATE

Talk About It Mate is Salford’s current Community Group of the Year.

Established by Mike Richard
in 2017 and registered as a Community Interest Company in 2019, TAIM has grown into a trusted
grassroots organisation delivering groups, activities, and community projects supporting men’s
wellbeing.

The Challenge

Many men struggle silently.

Across the UK men are significantly more likely to die by suicide, and loneliness among men continues to rise.

Many men feel they have nowhere they truly belong.

This is especially true for men who live alone, are out of work, have long-term health conditions, are carers, or feel overlooked and disconnected from society.

These are the men we meet every week.

Our Approach:

Talk About It Mate focuses on connection, prevention and community. Our work is built around five simple principles:

1. Create safe, consistent spaces where men can talk openly

2.Build community and reduce isolation

3. Empower men through peer support

4. Work alongside partners to reach those most in need

5. Focus on prevention, connection, and long term trust

Why Partnership Matters

Our grassroots, life saving work is made possible through the support of our partners. As we grow,
we are inviting a small number of organisations to stand alongside us to help expand safely and
sustain trusted spaces for men.
